caused by pollutants, pet dander, or allergies that cause the sinus
cavities to swell and then have issues. These can be extremely painful
to suffer from, or possibly make the person fell ill when they are
suffering from an infection of the sinus. There are options out
there.
A sinus infection has many types of signs and symptoms. These are
but not included to, chronic coughing that is a result of the drainage
of the mucus down the throat. Headache pain that radiates behind the
eyes and moves to the forehead and sides of the head. There can be
fever that is associated with an infection or loss of appetite. There
is also drainage of the sinus cavity that either comes out the nose or
drains down the throat. At first the health care provider will try
simple antibiotics to cure the infection and problems with the
sinuses. However in some cases the infection either comes back or
doesn't go away at all. In these cases a sinus surgery procedure might
be recommended.
There are many types of sinus surgery that can be done. The least
invasive of these types of surgery is that the endoscopic
surgery. This is essential a guided tube that goes up the nose and
looks around the sinus cavities. While it is in the nose it can take
away some of the sinus walls and help drainage. This is a great option
as the sinuses are so close to the eyes and brain that it doesn't
interfere with any of those and the complications are minimal. There
are other types of surgery such as Caldwell Luc that deals with the
sinus cavities right behind the eyes but this is a bit more
complicated and requires a recovery period and packing in the
nose. Also there is salt water rinses that are done to the sinus
cavities. Surgery can help a lot of sinus problems however it is a
last result and only a health care professional can tell you if it is
one that should be taken.
