Pilonidal cysts can be an embarassing problem. There are treatment
options out there such as antibiodics, and pilonidal sinus surgery
that can cure this condition if it is known.
An embarrassing problem that many men (and in some cases women)
from the age of puberty on upwards might suffer from is pilonidal
sinus cysts. This can be embarrassing as it deals with the person's
private areas and can be an embarrassment to bring up to a health care
professional or a doctor. However there are treatment options out
there that can help with this type of problem.
A pilonidal cyst is a cyst, or fluid filled absess that forms on or
near the buttocks. These types of cysts can also happen on the
genitals, under the armpits, on the arms or anywhere that hair might
be, however it is very uncommon for it to be anywhere else but the
buttocks and that vicinity. It is caused by the skin or hair folical
getting trapped and then getting infected. It might be very painful to
the person or it might not be felt at all. It can be a bit
embarrassing to bring up but once the proper medical professional
knows about this treatment can begin and hopefully surgery will not
need to be done.
Treatment for pilonidal cysts usually start out with an antibiotic
to cure the infection. Many doctors might recommend warm compresses,
or warm baths to relieve the pressure from the cyst. Sometimes there
are creams that are recommended that might shrink the cysts but these
are less commonly used. In the worst case senerio, the cyst or abscess
will need to be lanced in a pilonidal sinus surgery. This surgery
carried very little risks and is performed often by medical
professionals. It is done with basic anesthetic put in near the
abscess. It is then surgically lanced and draining. The pain
associated with this type of surgery is very little and there is
almost no complications from this type of surgery.
There is no reason to be embarrassed if you are suffering from
problems related to pilonidal cysts. The sooner that a health care
professional is informed then the sooner treatment can begin and the
less complications may be suffered. Remember there is no need to wait
to ask questions !
