 Abdominal surgery is a major type of surgery where in there is a lot of risk. You will then be undergoing several test such as PTT, PT, CBC and other, to assess whether you are in condition to undergo such, if not, the health care team will try to work out on those abnormal condition with proper intervention/s. one of the major risk and the priority among other is the risk for infection. Since you cut the skin, you disrupt the first barrier or the first line of defense of the body against infection that's why, surgery both major and minor should be done in aseptic technique.  Abdominal surgery recovery depend on the person, if the client's age is higher, they may need more days to recover and few more days to get back to their usual activities but as I said, it depends, even if you're in your mid 40s and 50s but generally healthy, you can recover fast than the usual. Abdominal surgery recovery for the first few days, you must stay in the hospital for 4 to 5 days to monitor for any complications. At first your nurse will turn you from side to side every two hours, if you have already regained some of your strength, you can now do it alone. After this, you will be assisted for a short walk. These activities fasten the recovery and prevent complications such as deep vein thrombosis, pneumonia. Upon discharge, your doctor will advise you or any of your family members to restrict you from doing activities as this may caused you exhausted because you aren't fully recovered yet. You will be prescribe to be in complete bed rest, to reduce energy consumption and may fasten the abdominal surgery recovery.
